Position overview
The role sits at the intersection of property intelligence and climate science. The analyst will review building imagery, conduct structured field observations, and record physical property attributes against a detailed analytical framework. Data produced feeds directly into Mitigrate's proprietary flood risk platform, shaping vulnerability assessments and resilience recommendations delivered to insurers and property owners.
Key responsibilities
- Review georeferenced street-level building imagery to identify and classify physical characteristics relevant to flood vulnerability
- Support occasional fieldwork to verify and supplement remote observations for complex/ambiguous cases
- Record observations accurately and consistently against a structured analytical framework
- Flag ambiguous cases for expert review with clear documentation of uncertainty
- Maintain clean, auditable records of all annotated data within the internal platform
- Contribute feedback to refine annotation guidelines as edge cases and new building typologies are encountered
Qualifications
Essential
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to consistency over speed
- Strong observational skills
- Ability to apply structured, evolving guidelines to real-world cases
- Self-disciplined and reliable when working independently
- Based in Oslo and able to work on-site
Desirable
- Background in geography, architecture, civil/structural engineering, urban planning, or environmental science
- Familiarity with European urban building typologies or construction history
- Prior experience in structured data collection, field surveys, research assistance, or image-based classification
- Curiosity about climate risk, urban resilience, or data science applied to the built environment
