Pride at Mitigrate: Inclusion is who we are

Pride is not a moment—it’s a mindset
At Mitigrate, Pride Month is more than just a calendar event. It’s a moment of reflection—a chance to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and, more importantly, to recommit to a value that informs every part of how we work: diversity fuels resilience, and inclusion builds better teams.
Our culture isn’t built on conformity. It’s shaped by people showing up fully and authentically. We don’t ask anyone to blend in. In fact, we do the opposite—we welcome difference. Actively. Intentionally. Because difference makes us sharper, stronger, and more human.
Our team spans an eclectic, vibrant spectrum of experiences and perspectives. We work alongside PhDs, engineers, and climate experts. Some of us are former nurses, others have changed careers entirely in search of more meaningful work. We’re surfers and gamers, meditation practitioners and ravers, LEGO builders and parents, immigrants and expats. What unites us isn’t a single mold—it’s the shared belief that showing up as your whole self is not only allowed, but celebrated.
This richness of perspective shows up in the work. It strengthens our thinking, deepens our collaboration, and builds real trust—not just among teammates, but between us and the people we serve.
Culture isn’t a motto—it’s a practice
Too often, inclusion is treated like a checkbox—something to nod at without ever getting uncomfortable. Some of us have worked in places where the unspoken rule was “better not to say too much.” Places where silence was safer than honesty.
At Mitigrate, we’ve created something different. Empathy isn’t optional—it’s expected. And in return, what’s offered is support. Sometimes that’s a Slack message, sometimes it’s a quick call, and sometimes it’s just someone saying, “I’ve got your back.” These small acts build something big: a workplace where people feel safe to be vulnerable, to speak up, and to know they won’t be left behind on a hard day.
In a volatile world, we choose humanity
The past year has reminded us how unstable and unjust the world can be. We’ve watched wars unfold in Ukraine, Gaza, and Iran. We’ve seen LGBTQ+ rights roll back in many parts of the world. Women’s rights are under assault in multiple countries. And across continents, immigrants and refugees are still fighting for dignity, safety, and basic recognition.
These aren’t distant headlines for us. These are lived realities—within our team, our families, and our communities. That’s why we act. We’ve supported colleagues relocating from unsafe environments. We’ve adapted our hiring and visa strategies to bring in talent from around the world. And we’ve nurtured a culture where no one is ever asked to mute or edit who they are.
Values you can see
At Mitigrate, our values don’t hang on walls—they guide how we hire, how we work, and how we lead:
- Empathy: Seeing the full human, not just the role
- Curiosity: Embracing different life paths and perspectives
- Boldness: Advocating for people, not just processes
- Collaboration: Building diverse, resilient teams
We’re thrilled to be welcoming two new team members who embody these values. They passed with flying (rainbow) colours—and we couldn’t be more excited to have them onboard.
Pride, always
Pride is a celebration, but it’s also a legacy of resistance. From Stonewall to today’s advocacy movements, it’s a reminder that freedom and dignity are hard-won—and still under threat.
At Mitigrate, we honor that legacy not just with banners or blog posts, but with action. In who we hire. In how we lead. In every moment we choose empathy over indifference.
Pride isn’t a moment for us. It’s part of who we are.
