Leading through crisis: the Oslo floods
In August 2023, Norway experienced one of the most severe natural disasters in recent memory. Storm Hans triggered over 10,000 claims and nearly NOK 1.8 billion in losses, exposing the urgent need for climate-responsive claims practices.
When major floods struck Oslo again in 2024, Gjensidige—a leading Nordic insurer—chose not to revert to business as usual. Instead, they leaned into innovation. They committed not just to settling claims, but to helping policyholders recover, adapt, and prepare for what’s next.
That’s where Mitigrate’s SaaS platform came in.

Together, we helped pioneer a new model: proactive flood mitigation embedded directly into the claims process.
