Mitigrate is a ClimateTech and InsurTech SaaS startup generating fully automated analyses leading to preventive measures for reducing climate damage on real estate. Thanks to high-resolution satellite images, our map-based AI models and optimization algorithms predict how 50+ climate-positive prevention measures can be implemented to reduce risk. Business value stems from reducing risks on individual assets and prioritizing preventive measures within large portfolios of commercial & residential real estate. Our customers are insurance companies, banks and municipalities, and we were recently awarded a Horizon EU project as part of a large consortium in insurance product innovation.

 

Job Description:

As the Head of Software Engineering, you'll work hands-on and lead the future development of our software engineering team, ensuring the successful development and delivery of our software products. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, define technical strategy, and drive innovation.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work hands-on on software development including front-end and back-end development.

  • Lead and manage a talented software engineering, data and scientific team, providing mentorship and guidance.

  • Define a technical roadmap that supports our software solutions' scalability, performance, and reliability.

  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specifications.

  • Drive the software development lifecycle, from architecture to deployment, leveraging your expertise in various technologies.

  • Implement and promote best practices for development, code quality, and security.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and identify opportunities for innovation and growth.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous learning, ensuring all team members feel valued and supported.

  • Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and partners.

 

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, with a solid background in sciences such as Mathematics, Physics or related fields.

  • 5 years of experience in software engineering, with expertise in geographic information systems (GIS), SQL databases, and hands-on software development, are mandatory.

  • Proven track record of leading and managing software engineering teams, delivering high-quality products.

  • Agile methodologies and ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in early-stage startups is a plus.
