Mitigrate is a ClimateTech and InsurTech SaaS startup generating fully automated analyses leading to preventive measures for reducing climate damage on real estate. Thanks to high-resolution satellite images, our map-based AI models and optimization algorithms predict how 50+ climate-positive prevention measures can be implemented to reduce risk. Business value stems from reducing risks on individual assets and prioritizing preventive measures within large portfolios of commercial & residential real estate. Our customers are insurance companies, banks and municipalities, and we were recently awarded a Horizon EU project as part of a large consortium in insurance product innovation.

 

Job Description:

As the Head of AI and Data, you'll work hands-on and lead the future development of our data analytics team, ensuring the successful development of our core data processing systems and the delivery of data to the software team. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, define technical strategy, and drive innovation.

 

Responsibilities:

• Work hands-on to formulate technical challenges into mathematical problems and develop data analytical tools, including the use of machine learning and deep learning. 

• Lead and manage a talented data analytics and scientific team, providing mentorship and guidance.

• Define a technical roadmap that supports our data solutions' scalability, performance, reliability and cost-efficiency. 

• Collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, designers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specifications.

• Work in tight collaboration with the software team to ensure the data pipelines are in sync with the software development phases, leveraging your expertise to support the software team.

• Implement and promote best practices for development, code quality, and security.

• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and identify opportunities for innovation and growth.

• Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous learning, ensuring all team members feel valued and supported.

• Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and partners.

 

Qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Mathematics, Physics or related fields applied to climate data. 

• 5 years of experience in AI and data analytics, with expertise in geographic information systems (GIS), SQL databases, and hands-on data solutions scale-up, are mandatory.

• Proven track record of leading and managing data teams and delivering high-quality products.

• Agile methodologies and ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

• Experience in early-stage startups is a plus.
