Mitigrate is a ClimateTech and InsurTech SaaS startup generating fully automated analyses leading to prioritized preventive measures for reducing climate damages on real estate. Thanks to high-resolution satellite images, our map-based AI models and optimization algorithms predict how 50+ climate-positive prevention measures can be implemented to reduce risk. Business value stems from reducing risks on individual assets and prioritizing preventive measures within large portfolios of commercial & residential real estate. Our customers are insurance companies, banks and municipalities and were recently awarded a Horizon EU project as part of a large consortium in insurance product innovation.

We are growing and looking to expand our international team to a talented and experienced machine learning engineer and data scientist.

Your responsibilities:

• Manage a large variety of datasets and data types covering climate, meteorological, geological and more

• Employ structured approaches to leveraging large data sets to uncover new insights

• Create machine learning solutions, including artificial intelligence, for a diverse set of problems

• Define hypothesis, perform independent research and make recommendations

• Drive acquisition of new data sources as needed with governance on the license, terms of use, compliance, quality, and high availability

Who are you?

• You have 5+ years of professional data science experience

• Your hold an MSc or a PhD in Data Science, AI, Mathematics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Fundamental Physics or similar

• A previous experience in geosciences manipulating geographic, geological or geophysical data is a bonus

• You have professional experience with GIS

• You know your way around Python (R or Scala are beneficial) and PostGIS databases

• Experience with libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, etc

• You’re able to summarize and communicate complex analyses via quality data visualization, notebooks, markdown, and Shiny

• Besides your data science skills, you have a strong interest or already have experience in data engineering and/or software engineering to implement models

• Nice have - knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure (Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Engine)

• You are ambitious, pragmatic and, proactive, down to earth, and you like to work in small teams

• You are fluent in English
